  2. Can you define a little better what a "PLE" is?

    Sure Evan, thanks for asking:

Although PLEs have no common definition yet, they certainly stress personalized learning.

The PLE, or personalized learning that I am familar with, is teacher facilitated, learning technology, that

incorporates personalized research proven, accelerated learning methodologies (deliberate practice, differentiated instruction, et.al.

This is truely a one-to-one learning environment, providing personalized reinforcement over time, that is instructor facilitated (blended learning).

This is very different in design, delivery and learning outcomes from the traditional one to many approach (lecture, textbook, etc)

Individual assessments are done via pre-testing.

Personalized, individual course plans are created on the fly to allow the learner to individually learn what they don't know.

You have primary learning acitivites that create initital understanding.

You have personalized study sessions that individually pace, space and reinforce the materials, over time, specific to how each individual learner learns.

A post test can be includes to assess individual learning progress.

The system is designed to monitor and coach individual learning over time. Interactive communication tools are integrated, including, if desired, a verbal skills simulation tool.

The individual learning outcomes, with critical must know information like ELA or Math, for at risk students are dramatically advanced over traditional one-to-many classroom learning and one-to-many elearning

It's also possible to empower students to use the learning technology with any critical content of their choosing

You end up with a teacher facilitated, personalized learning toolset, that creates individual mastery (fluency) in the shortest time possible. You also have transfered individual adaptive reasoning skills to each participant so they can use the information to pass a test AND to apply the information in everyday iife (long term recall)

    I hope this helps
