Phonetics needs to be rebased in English, the lingua franca of the world to be more useful. The present international phonetics (IPA) and US dictionary keys are not user friendly because of special symbols. English-based phonetic spelling - truespel

Trials with high school ESL students shows that they can learn truespel phonetics in less than an hour. In a few days they were writing phonetic notes with it. This is a new capability. Phonetics becomes simple and easy.Now in USA there is a common core requirement for k-1 "phonetics". This is not specified.
