My students are my district's pilot program for using iPads in the classroom. When Apple introduced iBooks author, I reinvented a project that I had assigned in the past and it turned out to be outstanding. Using iBooks Author, I was able to have students each create a chapter of a book that was compiled and shared with the class and their parents. This technology enabled students to really bring mathematics to... more »
I just helped write a grant through the MSET organization for money for a Mimio Teach Interactive System. It's an interactive whiteboard without the board. A magnetic bar is placed on any magnetic surface and comes with an interactive pen that works with your computer to make it function. I am excited to use it with my Geometry unit I'm about to begin. Through the software and learning community I've found plane and... more »

I am a clinical neuropsychologist from a family of teachers and have developed a fun reading program for grades K-3 that systematically develops reading skills. It has become clear to me that children from K to 3rd grade must learn to read, because from 4th grade on they must read to learn. In order to achieve this goal the TNT Reading software first tests a student's skills and then develops a targeted training program... more »

In Maine, my school piloted a program that integrated professional development and assessments (both formative and summative) of high school reading comprehension and writing. It was the best thing to happen to my classroom. The Professional Development piece, FineTune, helped me to better assess student writing. As a result when I used the summative assessments of Assessment21, I could focus on how my students were... more »
Our company is thinking of holding a weekly educational lottery where students who perform well with our online software will be entered into a drawing to win $100. Students would work through several educational tasks until they master each task. At that point their name would be put in a database and a student name would be drawn at random. We would not collect students' email addresses. Rather, we would mail the check... more »
